Whole School News and Photos

Please visit Our Virtual School Community Page to see what we are all doing while school is closed to most pupils. There's lots of photos and videos of all the wonderful things our families are getting up to. If you are a child at our school, there's lots more stuff on Google Classrooms too.

New Enrichment Activity

This half term we are trying our hand at rag rugging. We are using special equipment to cut strips of fabric and then hook them into a piece of hessian.  That’s a trivet we’re each making, not a tiny rug!

All Saints St Paul's Walden - Candlelit Carol Service 15th December

A huge well done to all the children who represented our school in the choir this evening at the Candlelit Carol Service at All Saints Church, St Paul’s Walden. They sang their hearts out and made us very proud.

It was a wonderful service attended by many families from school and the local community. The church was full and beautifully decorated for Christmas - it really did feel very festive.

We would like to thank Mr. Street for giving up his time to make it possible for our choir to be part of the service tonight.

Enrichment - crochet

Just a quick picture as we are busy getting ready for the Fair, but I promised this young crocheter that I would put her Christmas tree up on the website tonight!

A new half term begins with another group of budding crocheters... There's a couple of children in the group who have already learned the basics, so they picked up their hook and yarn, and off they went. Over the next couple of weeks, I hope to gradually teach the rest how to do it, with the ultimate aim of making Christmas trees. In the meantime I offer the children a weaving activity. This week they have produced some lovely woven stars, or in one case, a woven man as you'll see below.

Family Working Party Day

Many thanks to all the families who came and helped clear and tidy the school grounds. We painted the Friendship Bench, planted the hundreds of bulbs donated by  Vanstones and tidied up the Growing Together Garden.

Shame nobody told them that full Hippo bags are collected free...

World  Book Day:

The children and grown ups had great fun dressing up on World Book Day

Activities this half term include crochet. Last year, we made Easter baskets.

House News:

On the 20th September, we held elections to decide who would be House captains this year

The new House captains were elected:

Whole School Trip to Kew - Summer 2019:

We all had a great trip to Kew last summer. The Silver Birches used microscopes to study the parts of plants.
