Uniform
Uniform is valued at St Paul’s Walden School, as it helps children to feel a sense of belonging and pride in their school. Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child’s name. If your child mislays an item of clothing or equipment, please ask about it promptly, as we do not have the space to hold onto lost property for a long time.
The majority of our uniform items are not branded with the school logo and therefore can be purchased from any high street store or supermarket.
Items with logos (summer caps, outdoor fleeces, jumpers, cardigans, bookbags, PE t-shirts and PE bags) are optional and can be purchased from the Beat School Uniform online store. Beat also have our uniform in stock in their Hitchin shop (4 - 5 Hermitage Road).
School bags should be a suitable size. They need to be able to take an A4 folder without squashing corners, but not too large as space is restricted in the class cloakrooms. The preferred style is school book bags or messenger type bags, not rucksacks.
Jewellery
The wearing of jewellery is not permitted at school. If your child has pierced ears, then sleepers or small studs may be worn as long as the child can remove them for PE. For safety reasons, earrings cannot be worn in a PE lesson.
If your child cannot remove their sleepers or studs comfortably themselves at school, please remove them for them at home on the days that your child has PE timetabled.
Pre-loved school uniform
The school collects and sells pre-loved uniform items: these can be purchased at the Parent Drop in sessions on the first Thursday of every month. The PTA also hold uniform sales at various events throughout the academic year - please look out for details of these in the school newsletter. Should you have any uniform that you would like to donate please ensure that it is washed and the school office will be more than happy to sell it at our next event.
