Term Time Holidays

Can I take my child out of school?

Any absence from school must be authorised by the head teacher.

Authorised absences will always be granted in respect of illness and for attendance at medical appointments. Other absence will only be deemed authorised in exceptional circumstances. Absence from school by reason of preferential costs of holidays within term time will not be granted as authorised absence. It is never ideal when children miss valuable lessons and other related activities. The school will therefore not authorise any absences except for 'exceptional circumstances' as per amendments published on 1 September 2013 to The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006. Pupils' attendance is closely monitored by the school and Local Authority attendance officers and attendance is recorded in school reports. Attendance of less than 95% is considered unsatisfactory and will be reported to the Local Authority.
